1. Who we are
Skills Link Sussex (“we”, “us”) operates the Skills Link Sussex platform. We are the data controller for personal data processed through this website. Contact us at support@skillslinksussex.co.uk.
2. Data we collect
- Workers: name, email, phone number, town, skills, qualifications, availability and any CV you upload.
- Employers: business name, contact name, email, phone, address, company registration and VAT details.
- Usage data: log data, device and browser information, and pages viewed.
- Payment data: handled by Stripe. We never store card details.
3. How we use your data
To operate your account, match workers with employers, process employer subscriptions, provide support, prevent fraud and misuse, and meet our legal obligations.
4. Lawful bases
We rely on contract (providing the service), consent (sharing your contact details with an employer, marketing emails), legitimate interests (platform safety and improvement) and legal obligation (accounting and tax records).
5. Worker privacy by default
Employers see only your first name and town until you approve a contact request. Your full name, email, phone number and CV are shared only with your explicit consent.
6. Sharing your data
We share data with service providers who help us run the platform (hosting, database, email delivery and Stripe for payments). We do not sell your personal data.
7. Retention
We keep account data while your account is active and for up to 12 months afterwards, except where longer retention is required by law (for example, financial records for 6 years).
8. Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete or port your data, to restrict or object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. Email us to exercise any right. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
9. Security
Data is encrypted in transit over HTTPS and access is restricted by row-level security rules. CV files are stored privately and accessed only via short-lived secure links.

We will post any changes to this policy on this page with an updated date.
